Addiction and Mental Health Treatment Resources

  • Health promotion
    A holistic approach includes recognizing clients as partners in their health care, focusing on strengths and assets, addressing social determinants of health, advocating for systemic changes, and using multiple strategies to achieve optimal health.
  • Screening and assessment
    This section covers the interrelated steps of screening, assessment and treatment planning and includes links to screening and assessment tools.
  • Early intervention
    Interventions for people displaying early signs and symptoms of mood disorders, psychoses, or other mental health problems. This content is under development. Please check back later.
  • Brief interventions and brief treatment
    A brief intervention is a single session or multiple sessions focusing on increasing a client’s insight and awareness. Brief treatment consists of a limited number of highly focused sessions. This content is under development. Please check back later.
  • Specialized treatment
    Approaches to treatment – including methadone treatment, trauma treatment and relapse prevention – along with links to online resources.
  • Community-based care
    These programs focus on housing, income, employment and education for clients, to promote their recovery via community integration. Service providers can refer clients to these resources or with some, clients can access them directly.
